Houston, Texas

Named after General Sam Houston, Houston is the largest city in the state of Texas. Other factoids also put the city at the top of the heap: it’s the 4th largest city in the US; the theater district has the second largest number of theater seats in a downtown area; it’s home to the largest medical center in the world—and the city’s temperature really gets up there too. Houstonians take refuge in the 11,000 air-conditioned restaurants, eating out more than any other city’s residents—and for good reason. Houston’s Tex-Mex is about as good as it gets, and there’s a reason people can’t stop talking about Texas BBQ.

Really good! Next time I think I will use red peppers instead of green for the extra sweetenss and color! Yum!

Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Reviewed on Dec. 1, 2008 by Johanna
I can't give this 5 stars because all I did was use a commercial brand bbq sauce to coat the ribs and baste with. But I did use the oven temp and the cooking time! I started out with the ribs covered, but after 30 mins when I went to baste them, they were so goopy I left the foil off the rest of the time. They were fork-tender and a hit with the family. Thanks for the basic recipe!
